Yes! Yes! Yes! you can apply for a work permit in India after receiving a conditional job offer letter from Nova Scotia as an RN:
IENs: You are eligible for the WORK PERMIT APPLICATION from your country.
- Ensure the letter specifies the job offer and conditions.
- Submit the letter along with your work permit application to the relevant authorities in India.
- Upon approval, you can work in Nova Scotia as an RN.

Step 2: Starting the Application (NSCN)
This process is if you are an international nurse who is registered and holds a current license that entitles you to practice as an RN in the Philippines, India, Nigeria, Australia, US, UK or New Zealand.
- Select the application type called: RN Applicants (Expedited Countries).
- Submit two pieces of identification showing your legal name
- Notarization of these documents is not required
- Identification options include: a birth certificate, passport, nexus card, driver’s license, Canadian government-issued ID, citizenship card (Canadian or International), etc.
- They will need to determine that you hold a current license that entitles you to practice as an RN in one of the seven identified countries and that your license there is in good standing. There are two ways in which they can do this:
- By reviewing a Verification of Registration Form (CLICK ON THE BELOW LINK) that was sent directly to NSCN from your regulatory body

- or You can “port” your NNAS Advisory Report to NSCN. Once the report is ported, you can then email the NNAS application number for Nova Scotia to rrt@nscn.ca.
- For applicants currently licensed in the USA, NSCN can use the NURSYS online search tool to determine whether your license is in good standing.

After paying your fees, next step is to submit wait until NSCN will inform you that you are eligible to apply for licensure. Once NSCN inform you that you are eligible for applying for License after that you will need to submit your Criminal Record Check. I am also going to mention the CRC link.
Please do not submit a CRC Criminal Record Check with your initial application because these documents expire six months after they are issued.

Step 3: Once your application has been approved, you have 4 options (NSCN):
The four options include:
- Get a conditional license now and take the registration exam now.
- Get a conditional licence now. Take the registration exam at a later date.
- Take the registration exam now. Get a conditional licence at a later date.
- Do nothing right now. Get a conditional licence and take the registration exam at a later date.

Expiry of your application:
- All Canadian documents (statement from employer, licensure verifications) expire six months from the date they are completed.
- All international documents expire 24 months after they were completed with the exception of the English Language Proficiency Test, which expires 24 months from the date of the test.
- If your application documents are more than 24 months old and you have not been in contact with NSCN for 12 months, your application will expire and be closed.
- If you change your mind and wish to re-apply after your file has been closed, you will be required to re-apply to NSCN, and you may be required to re-pay the assessment fee. Note: your application will be measured against the regulatory requirements at that time.
