Mental health awareness week from October 2-8 is a time to enhance awareness and educate the public about reality of mental illness. This week coincides with World Mental Health Day om October 10.
According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, in any given year, one in five Canadians will personally experiences a mental health problem or illness.
Poor mental health caused by several factors such as genetic, biological, personality and environment factors.
Nurses and health care workers can help public by providing education and remove the stigma around the mental illness.
WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY
The WHO World Health Organization declared October 10 as World Mental Health Day.
It is a day to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health
This year’s World Mental Health Day focuses on Making Mental Health and Well-Being for all a Global Priority and building s future where quality mental health services are accessible worldwide.
WHO will work with partners to launch a campaign around the theme of Making Mental Health and Well-Being for all a Global Priority.
This will be an opportunity for people with mental health conditions, advocates, governments, employers, employees and other stakeholders to come together to recognize progress in this field and to be vocal about What we need to do ensure Mental Health and Well-Being becomes a Global Priority for all.
