- The College of Nurses of Ontario serves as the regulatory authority for Registered Nurses (RNs), Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs), and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) within Ontario, Canada. Since 1963, the nursing profession in Ontario has enjoyed self-regulation, a privilege granted to professions demonstrating prioritization of public interests over professional ones. This recognition underscores the proficiency of Ontario’s nurses in both self-regulations as individual practitioners and in governing their profession through the College.
