Caregiver pilot program in Canada 2024, plans to make the caregivers program permanent and caregivers will receive permanent residence (PR) upon arrival
With the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot ending later this month, the Honorable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, has announced new, improved caregiver pilot programs. These new pilots will enable caregivers to continue coming to Canada as the government moves towards making these programs permanent.

- Achieve a minimum of level 4 on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)
- Possess the equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma
- Have recent and relevant work experience
- Obtain a full-time job offer in home care

In June 2014, the Live-in Caregiver Program had an inventory of over 60,000 individuals. Today, less than 1% of that inventory remains.
Under the 2024–2026 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada will grant permanent residence to over 15,000 caregivers.
As of April 30, 2024, nearly 5,700 caregivers and their family members have obtained permanent residence since the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot were launched in 2019.
