BREAKING NEWS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN CANADA to do work over 20 hours from NOV 15, 2022, to DEC 31,2023.

Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced that international students who are in Canada will be allowed to work more than 20 hours per week off-campus from November 15,2022 until December 31,2023.

It is new temporary step to alleviate Canada’s historic labor shortages.

Fraser says this will permit more than 500,000 international students already in Canada to work more hours.

Why this news is effective for international students as well as for CANADA?

FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  • SUPPORT FINANCIAL: It allows international students to support themselves financially while doing study.
  • IN SCHEDULED BREAKS: This limit is lifted during the scheduled break like summer and winter holidays.

FOR CANADA

Canada is the world’s leading destinations of international students.

In 2021, it hosted over 620000 international students, a figure which has tripled over the past two decades. Canada issued nearly 450000 new study permits last year alone.

In CANADA the demand to study remains strong because of several factors such as quality of the educational institutions, multiculturalism, Canada dollar affordability, work, PR permanent residence opportunities which country offers.

Fraser also added that Canada has already processed more than 452,000 study permit applications between January and August of 2022, a 23 percent inclined as compared to the 367000 processed over the same period in 2021.

Canada broken the record it set last year for study permits processed in a calendar year.

According to the Canadian Bureau for International Education CBIE research, the majority of international students are interested in remaining in CANADA as PERMANENT RESIDENTS after completing their studies.
