What is NCLEX ?

The National Council Licensure Examination is a nursing exam organised by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). 

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF NCLEX?

The purpose of the NCLEX exam is to test the skills and knowledge of the new nurses. It is important for entry-level nurses to pass out this exam. The exam is designed for the nursing candidates who have already completed the nursing program from accredited colleges. 

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF NCLEX ?

There are two variations of the NCLEX:

  • NCLEX RN is for the new nurses who have completed a registered nursing program. 
  • NCLEX PN is for the nurses who have completed a practical or vocational nursing program. The NCLEX PN is only valid for US licensure.

SOME IMPORTANT KEY POINTS OF NCLEX :

  • EXAM DURATION: 5 hours
  • DELIVERY OF EXAM: Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) Technology
  • EXAM LEVEL:  Intermediate
  • ELIGIBILITY: Graduation from the nursing school
  • TYPES: Two types of NCLEX

               NCLEX-RN 

NCLEX PN

  • APPLICATION FEES: $200
  • EXAM DATE: Once you completed your nursing degree, book your exam date as  soon as possible either via call or online request.
  • QUESTION FORMAT: NCLEX exam offers different format questions.
  • TOTAL QUESTION:
    • For NCLEX-RN= 75- 145 items

For NCLEX-PN= 85-205 items

  • First 15 questions in NCLEX-RN do not count the candidates’ scores.
  • First 25 questions in NCLEX-PN are non-scored questions.
